Lemonade

Igawa is Japanese for lemon.

Igawa was a pretty in control guy in Japan. not Gregg Maddux control, but at least CM Wang ish control.. hell his BB/9 in Japan was better than Matsuzaka's .

His BB/9 in Japan was only better if you look at their careers. That's not an accurate way to look at who they are now. Matsuzaka is much younger than Igawa and entered NPB as an 18 year old. Igawa was a college graduate. Matsuzaka boosted that ratio to something in the 6's by last season, while Igawa's best years seemed behind him until he made a little comeback last season.

These are two pitchers heading in very different directions. Igawa is going to be okay, but he will have 3 or 4 more games like this in 2007. You have to take the good with the bad with him, as a fly ball pitcher who works up in the zone, doesn't have a hot fastball, and occasionally drives his fans crazy with a lack of control.
